BethanyGrace(1674) whispers: Go walkingterrapin! (Go Roy's Rangers!)
Funkmaus(2158) whispers: :)
Funkmaus(2158) whispers: If white play Muzio, I be cheering for him just because ~
BethanyGrace(1674) whispers: :)
sydches(2027) whispers: Not a variation for the faint-hearted :-)
blore(1908) whispers: i am faint-hearted
blore(1908) whispers: if there is anything on the board more than the two kings i get a heart attack
BethanyGrace(1674) whispers: lol, how are you 1908 and still alive then? :)
nraravind(1807) whispers: he meets a lot of other faint-hearted people on this server :)
Funkmaus(2158) whispers: trades are good
blore(1908) whispers: lol! True that was an exageration but i generally get a bit intimidated in complicated positions }
4...g5 {(4:21)} 5.g3 {(0:10)
blore(1908) whispers: may i emphasise faionter-hearted and that is why i am still alive :D
sydches(2027) whispers: Most of my internet chess games land up in this variation. too many fans of the Fischer defence
sydches(2027) whispers: From what I've seen of walkingterrapin's games, he is well versed in opening theory
blore(1908) whispers: not sure of the fischer defence but i am definitely a Fischer fan...much as my team mate sydches dislikes Fischer i like him
nraravind(1807) whispers: g4 and Nh4 now?
blore(1908) whispers: last time sydney played Ng1...
blore(1908) whispers: nraravind remember his earlier game in the teamleague? he retreated to g1
blore(1908) whispers: well first thing is, are we going to see g4 or not!?
blore(1908) whispers: but if i am not wrong Fischer recommended h6
nraravind(1807) whispers: @blore so what would you play as black? Surely g4?
blore(1908) whispers: I suspect i would play h6
Hathkhola(1832) whispers: a bust to the kings gambit ;)
blore(1908) whispers: :) as Fischer famously declared before going on to NEVERTHELESS play it from the white side after that and winning (against a computer also) }
5...g4 {(8:26)} 6.Nh4 {(0:07)
blore(1908) whispers: ok so sydches has deviated from his earlier game...variety is the spice of TEAMLEAGUE?! LOL
nraravind(1807) whispers: variation is the spice of chess }
6...f3 {(1:19)} 7.Nc3 {(0:15)
blore(1908) whispers: last time his reasoning he was anticipating Be7 after Nh4 but has anyway played it this time i guess ready for Be7 but surprise of surprises his opponent has surprised him with f3!? }
7...Be7 {(0:10)} 8.Be3 {(0:08)
blore(1908) whispers: but Be7 comes one move later!! LOL }
8...Bxh4 {(0:08)} 9.gxh4 {(0:03)} Qxh4+ {(0:01)
nraravind(1807) whispers: the White king doesn't mind walking to the Queenside
blore(1908) whispers: ???!!! one more pawn
blore(1908) whispers: i think not i think the idea is Bf2
Funkmaus(2158) whispers: Nd5 coming who cares for pawns. and real KG-player move king
blore(1908) whispers: Kd2 is losing it has to be Bf2
blore(1908) whispers: two pawn gambit!??!
Funkmaus(2158) whispers: Kd2 isnt losing: g3 fxg3 Qxh1 Bb5+
blore(1908) whispers: but RAAAAAAAAAAPIIIIIIIIIID development
nraravind(1807) whispers: Kd2 and black can play c6
blore(1908) whispers: ah ok! missed that }
10.Bf2 {(1:59)
Funkmaus(2158) whispers: ....c6 is a point. But as he failed to play it on move 1, he is dead :p }
10...Qh6 {(0:21)
blore(1908) whispers: ok preventing the aforementioned counter threat and renewing the g3 threat so I think Bf2 was good in the end }
11.Nd5 {(0:18)} Kd8 {(0:04)
blore(1908) whispers: oh oh ohj black interferes with castling of white and in tudn white returns the offer }
12.Qd2 {(0:21)

12...Be6 {(0:12)
blore(1908) whispers: black has forfeited and white is still struggling maybe it is going to be a double king walk to the wings
blore(1908) whispers: oh yes it looks like neither player is going to castle in this game :(
blore(1908) whispers: i just wonder if Nf4 is coming now
blore(1908) whispers: in my eyes that appears the best move for white
nraravind(1807) whispers: it seems to give Black time to develop
blore(1908) whispers: it threatens to beat back the light square bishop with d5 next
blore(1908) whispers: besides what does black develop? the kings knight and immediately Nxe6+ and the queen falls
blore(1908) whispers: Nc6 or Nd7 both lose a piece to fork/trap
nraravind(1807) whispers: how does the queen fall? }
13.Nf4 {(5:11)
nraravind(1807) whispers: ok d5 is probably the idea }
13...Kc8 {(0:16)
blore(1908) whispers: discovered attack after check because it is currently supported by g8 knight which is therefore immobilised
blore(1908) whispers: black wisely moves the king away from check }
14.h3 {(1:13)
blore(1908) whispers: ?! }

nraravind(1807) whispers: why not Nxh5?
blore(1908) whispers: Qd6 now berhaps?
nraravind(1807) whispers: there might be thematic sacs which we don't know about.
blore(1908) whispers: the pawns are not what he is after he sacrificed them for quick piece play it is against his style to take back pawns hastily }
21.hxg4 {(1:03)

21...hxg4 {(0:07)

blore(1908) whispers: mate threat nice!! way }
28...Nd7 {(0:16)
nraravind(1807) whispers: sorry queen was en prise. I was looking at Rh7 instead of Qa5. It is way too fast.
blore(1908) whispers: to extricate the rook without hitting Bxf3 }
29.Rd1 {(0:14)
blore(1908) whispers: white has two bishops versus two knights for the pawn

sydches(2027) whispers: too bad 2 mate-in-1s avoided :D
blore(1908) whispers: :D sydches is not seriously expecting to checkmate by blunder! }
30.Bc4 {(0:40)
blore(1908) whispers: oh Bc4 i guess not to give the temporary closure of d file caused by Bd3
sydches(2027) whispers: black is a rook down for two pawns }
30...Nf8 {(0:38)
blore(1908) whispers: but same idea of Be6 pinning the knight
blore(1908) whispers: Rxd8+ Kxd8 Rxb7?! }
31.Rf7 {(0:38)
blore(1908) whispers: oh!? }
31...Re8 {(0:15)

36...Ka7 {(0:03)
sydches(2027) whispers: Ne4 was the only move I thought attacking the bishop
blore(1908) whispers: wow! What a way to play and get back all the pawns with double bishop against double knight }
37.Rde1 {(0:49)
blore(1908) whispers: i think the fact that the pawns are all on the same side of the board may mean the double bishops is not a huge advantage but no clue

{walkingterrapin resigns} 1-0
walkingterrapin (2012-11-25): i would like to have played this game over the board without computers present. Not sure about sydchess and the authenticity of both 5. g3 and 6. Nh4, both seem like positional suicide, Fritz 11 agrees................
