SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: I think we'll play a sicilian opening }

SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: and wasn't disappointed :) }
2.Nf3 {(0:24)} d6 {(0:10)

3.d4 {(0:34)} cxd4 {(0:09)} 4.Nxd4 {(0:06)} Nf6 {(0:06)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: I though he would start with 2. Nc6, but it doesn't matter
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Just wonder if he prepared an opening just as I did }
5.Nc3 {(0:42)} a6 {(0:04)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Considering he played this type of opening a lot, I guess he didn't needed to }
6.Be2 {(1:23)} e6 {(0:14)} 7.O-O {(0:12)} Be7 {(0:02)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: so far, everything looks calm, I just forgot what's next on this line. I think I usually play a3 next here though }
8.a3 {(3:38)} Qc7 {(1:42)} 9.h3 {(1:16)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: These last 2 moves may have been waiting moves, but I haven't decided how to continue the middle game }
9...b6 {(1:13)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Those are the moves my old friend Buti would reprime me for :P
lambertdw(1515) whispers: you've not attained middle game. }
10.Re1 {(1:10)} Bb7 {(0:26)} 11.Bd3 {(3:26)} Nbd7 {(0:58)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Black wouldn't castle long, would he?
Twikki(2092) whispers: the Be2 line is slow but shouldn't be this slow... white has given up 2 tempos from the usual lines, maybe 3 depending on what you think of a3 }
12.Nf3 {(1:45)} Nc5 {(0:44)} 13.Bf4 {(3:24)} Nxd3 {(2:04)} 14.cxd3 {(0:35)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: I like better my position than his, but now the pawn structure is so similar }
14...Rd8 {(1:42)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: I could try Qa4+, but think is a waste of move though, unless he blunders with Bc6, he has lots of better ways to stop the check
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: Rc1 seems natural here }
15.Rc1 {(1:39)
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: good choice :-)
Twikki(2092) whispers: I don't really like Nxd3... that bishop was a big pawn on d3. I guess he really wanted the bishop pair
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: If he doesn't move his queen away, I could try playing something like Nd5 next }
15...Qd7 {(1:32)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Without calculating, looks to me like I must play d4 here
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Although Nc3-a4-b6 looks tempting and I can defend it witht he bishop, but looks a bit dangerous to play too
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: how about Na4 directly??
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Look good enough to me though, as his queen will be kind of cornered
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: he can (and should) just answer it with Qb5 though
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: if Na4 - not sure how he defends Nxb6 next ??
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: but then again - please consider my rating :-) }
16.Na4 {(6:32)
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: i think this is good ...
Twikki(2092) whispers: black loses the b pawn but lines open up for his pieces with something like Na4 o-o Nxb6 Qb5 Nc4 d5... white should be better though
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: yes - i think white is slightly better after the line you propose - which seems like the correct one ...
Twikki(2092) whispers: well Be3 might be better than Nc4
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: yes - keeps the tension
Twikki(2092) whispers: black needed to play Qb8 instead of Qd7... freed up the square for Nd7
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Seems this is the first time I make him use his clock }
16...e5 {(7:26)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: At least I believe that'll slow his pair of bishops
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Nxb6 Qb5 Be3 Qxb2 Rb1 may lead to something }
17.Nxb6 {(3:50)
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: Be3 seemed better ... }
17...Qb5 {(0:47)} 18.Be3 {(0:03)
Twikki(2092) whispers: Rc7 will be a problem
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Still not there, but I like when my rival eat a lot of time and the difference goes the other way around. I like to use lots of time even on simple moves, unless is a line I already calculated well }
18...Rb8 {(10:33)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Not the move I anticipated but I can now trade queens with Qa4
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: anticipating Rc7 as Twikki suggested ??
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: how about a4??
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: seems like that puts the Q in trouble .....
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: again - consider my rating when i comment :-) }
19.Qa4 {(3:32)
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: i liked a4 better ... }
19...O-O {(4:10)} 20.Qxb5 {(0:46)} axb5 {(0:05)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Nd7 fork looks nice, but I have to play Bg5 first and may be kind of obvious
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: yes ...
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: Rc7 seems like the right move
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: although I might just play a4 and not have to play pair of knights vs bishops (although I'm fine with that too)
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: maybe not :-)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: I think that can wait, I should double rooks
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Think Bg5 is the best move here, I'll check other options after the game }
21.Bg5 {(6:01)
UrsaMajor(1656) whispers: Rc7 seems strong
Twikki(2092) whispers: Bxe4 }

23.Be7 {(0:41)} Rfe8 {(0:14)} 24.Bxd6 {(0:24)} Rbd8 {(0:14)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Bc7 or Bc5, both look good
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: I guess Bc7 is more direct, I wouldn't like him to keep the pair of bishops
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Bxe5 doesn't look that great, I'll keep it in mind to check after the game }
25.Bc7 {(4:34)} Bxc7 {(0:05)} 26.Rxc7 {(0:02)} Rb8 {(0:01)} 27.Rc5 {(0:20)} f6 {(0:50)
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: I believe I can't keep the b pawn without giving my d pawn, but connected pawns are always good.
SamuraiGoroh(1716) whispers: Still probably should double rooks now that I have a good margin and don't be greedy
Twikki(2092) whispers: b4 first }
28.Rec1 {(2:36)
Twikki(2092) whispers: now black plays b4 and opens a diagonal for the B }

{ClemsonTiger resigns} 1-0
samuraigoroh (2017-05-06): Kudos clemsontiger, this was a hard earned victory for me. This was one of (if not the) longest TL game I've had -as moves-, and one of the longest games in time too
joshuar (2017-05-07): Nice win, SamuraiGoroh. You're on a roll. Some good points from Twikki, in there, but for the most part you took the small advantage and just ran with it into a winning endgame.
samuraigoroh (2017-05-08): Thanks Joshua, I didn't wanted to over-complicate myself hence why I played some weaker moves at times that were safer rather than risking it. (still a bit lazy to go and calculate long and tedious lines :P)
