plyo (2013-09-14): I want to add something about the strategy. I'm not "knowledgeable" in black's defence but I've seen the set up enough times. Like other defences, I just don't think it's as effective when white plays g3. That aside, I like to postpone e4 because quite often I feel it's more of a hassle to defend it then actual space invader. Plus, I wanted to wait and see what black will do with his LSB. He can go to e6 or g4 of h3 and if he chooses g4 you really don't want to have a pawn on e4, it's better to have it on e2. Once he chose h3, I was happy to play e4 also because it threatens the simple d5 and the exchange of the queens. I played 8.a3 because it's an active way to meet Be6. You play b4 to push-off the black queen and play Qd3 with a very solid structure and q-side space. Also, 9.Re1 is a positional move. Since I still did not want to change the structure, Re1 was flexible enough being a move I'd likely play anyway and if needs be, allows for Bh1 and keeping the LSB on board. His 10... e5 is simply a blunder which is why he resigned but I just wanted to put my thoughts on record for future refrence because I feel that the strategy is thematic and based on positional points whereas black's play is based on a cheapo attempt of breaking things up when if white plays too "ambitiously".
