25...Rfe8 {(1:42)} 26.Rxc7 {(0:21)
Mekk(1867) whispers: If I manage to capture a pawn than my position will be quite nice. Still black has some ideas }
26...Red8 {(3:50)} 27.Ra7 {(0:42)} Rd6 {(0:04)
KrystianSz(1911) whispers: black's 25...Rfe8 was a loss of time I think }

JasSch(2105) whispers: Nice
Mekk(1867) whispers: looking back - IIRC my opp need not capture rook immediately, Qe6 or sth like that could force me to give it up for knight onot for bishop }

36.Kg2 {(1:29)
Mekk(1867) whispers: Pity I gave up my dark bishop, but I did not see a way to make progress so took this pawn. But would be nice to have it, would...
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: It's just a shame mekk miss 35. Re8 that won another pawn. I think he should still be ok }
36...exd3 {(2:15)
Mekk(1867) whispers: Bxd3 is safer but still not sure
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: keep the pawns intact
golddust(2134) whispers: better exd3
Mekk(1867) whispers: exd3 keeps c3 cloed but he may have ideas of piling against f2
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: I think you're right, as it means you can maintain bishop on c4 hitting f7 too
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: still more logical to take on d3 with bishop
golddust(2134) whispers: actually more logical exd3! }
37.exd3 {(5:03)} g5 {(0:03)
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: Why?
golddust(2134) whispers: keeps f7 under attack plus a passed pawn! }
38.Re8 {(1:48)
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: I will tell you why Bxd3 was better you could play f3 then walki with king to queenside and promote the b pawn
JovanoskiZoran offers a draw.
Mekk declines the draw request.
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: draw request is optimistic
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: thougt white would continue a4-b5 trying to create passed a-pawn }
38...Rc7 {(3:38)
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: I guess white's idea is Re5
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: that was my thought too with idea that stopping passed pawn and protecting f7 would at least leave black with his hands tied }

43.a4 {(1:34)
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: yep, Re5 only really works if rook is on h6, white should play a4/b5/pxb5
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: Bxb5 a8 is light square so is a6 }
43...Rb6 {(1:28)
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: that's true, it's probably worthwhile inserting Ra8 first if you can although here it's doubtful }

evilcoyote(2103) whispers: B and R cannot win this position alone need the king }
46...Rb6 {(0:48)
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: 37 ...g5 was a strong move
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: true, although I think both sides are currently playing without a plan, apart from maybe commenting on other games
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: I think white should just give up the h3 pawn and bring king to queenside probably b4
evilcoyote(2103) whispers: unless he can set up Re4 and h4 }

77...Re5 {(0:57)
bjs(1901) whispers: as in b6 now?
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: well Rg5/e5 works. I think optimal route is via Be6/d4
JasSch(2105) whispers: Maybe Bd5 first.
bjs(1901) whispers: bd5 looks better
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: Bd5 is more solid
JasSch(2105) whispers: If white takes then d4
bjs(1901) whispers: how about d4 kxd4 bd5
bjs(1901) whispers: then white can go eat the f6
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: then Kc5 gets you back to square one a pawn down
bjs(1901) whispers: oh :(
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: it also means black has a ready made fortress since only way to break it is via pawn duo or getting f6 pawn elimininated }
78.Bd5 {(5:02)
JasSch(2105) whispers: Bd5 first before b6 as it cuts down the rooks options, i.e. his mobility
JasSch(2105) whispers: Mekk must be reading my mind.
bjs(1901) whispers: kxb5 looks forced
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: well even if he's not after a while he has to come to terms with lack of alternative potential winning routes
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: 35. Re8 would have made things a lot easier if he read my mind at right moment :P
bjs(1901) whispers: so kxb5 d4 rg5 e5? }

81.Kg6 {(0:25)
JasSch(2105) whispers: Penetrate
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: yep, rook went wrong way, I don't quite understand move but I don't object to opponent playing weaker moves
Mekk(1867) whispers: there was funny variation if he played Rg5 after d4 (my e5). Not 100% sure what would happen
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: bishop covering g8 is icing on the cake }
81...Kb4 {(1:26)
JasSch(2105) whispers: A bishop + 2 pawns vs rook wins almost every time }

85...Rf8+ {(0:51)
bjs(1901) whispers: hehe

88.Kf7 {(0:29)} Rf3+ {(0:01)

JasSch(2105) whispers: white needed to get the bishop to the g file to build a bridge to block the checks. Looking back around move 85/86 or thereabouts, Be6 sacing the e pawn so as to be able to withdraw the king to g5 and the bishop to g4 when checked from behind by the rook.
DodgeBrother(1627) whispers: it is clear draw
JasSch(2105) whispers: Now Rxg7 is a draw
Mekk(1867) whispers: well defended. If I could teleport my king a bit...
bjs(1901) whispers: you better teleport the bishop :)
JasSch(2105) whispers: Damn. These endings sure don't play themselves.
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: crafty seems to dislike 86. Ke7 preferring 86. Kg5 although it's hard to tell since it could simply not have depth since it evaluates this as +0.93. Well unfortunately no bridges exist }
96.Bd5 {(2:03)} Rf3+ {(0:14)} 97.Kg8 {(0:07)
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: well generally these endings need a lot of care and small insignificant errors can have a huge impact
JasSch(2105) whispers: It will if followed up by Be6. Maybe thats the key }
97...Rg3 {(0:06)
KRMCHESS(1913) whispers: 3 fold repetition I think }
98.Kf8 {(0:53)}
{Game drawn by repetition} 1/2-1/2
golddust (2013-01-30): Remarkable game and white played exceedingly well: B & R vs 2R. Some suggestions: On move 35 white should have seized the e file by 35. Re8 (instead of Ra8).. Move 63. f3 probably should have been played 3 moves earlier. On 66. Rf5+ white lost some time whereby he could have moved the king to e2, blocked the e file by Re4 and moved the king to e3 and f4 earlier. On move 80 white still had complete superiority and maintained it with excellent moves up to move 86 when instead of getting behind his g pawn left the pawn for the e7 square thus allowing the black Rook to keep it separated from the important g pawn and then alternately get behind the pawn and check. [golddust]
mekk (2013-02-02): As JasSch pointed after the game, the critical variation goes 86.Kg5 Ke5 87. g7 Rf1 88. Be6!! and either g pawn queens with check, or Bg4 shields the king from check. Be6 is beautiful move I would not likely find even if I sensed the danger - and I did not, I recognized the white's drawing idea only move or two later.
